Energy

From fiber optics to low and medium voltage, our range of thixotropic gels helps keep the energy industry powered.

Energy cables can be either low, medium, or high voltage, as well as hybrid cables which provide for both fiber and copper. Insulator Bushings are managed using a filling compound with low dielectric constant, superior oil separation resistance, and high temperature operation characteristics.

Our Oxi DefenderTM line of corrosion protection greases and gels ensure that cables repel water and resist oxidation.

The Heat DefenderTM series of materials can withstand temperatures between -50 to 300oC allowing for a large operating temperature range.

Info-Gel has also developed Extended Thermoplastic Resins (ETPR) for use in copper cables that are solids at room temperature providing good di-electric strength and locking copper wires in place.  Our standard materials provide a 90°C dropping point above which the material becomes liquid, however, we can tailor the drop point to customer requirements.

Lastly, we have our Weight DefenderTM low density gels that can reduce the gel weight by as much as 50% and also improves the dielectric properties even further.

Information
LD345 is a low-density compound suitable for filling and/or flooding loose tube type cables using a PBT jacket. It has very good di-electric properties and is commonly used on copper, twisted copper pair, and low to medium voltage cables. Additionally it can be used in fiber optic cables to reduce the weight and the amount of gel used and is popular for ADSS types of cables where weight is a primary concern.

Information
Good for PE/PP/PBT cables and reduced density by 25% to (0.65 g/cm³) over a traditional gel while keeping a low viscosity.

Extended Thermoplastic Rubber

ETPR – A thermoplastic material that is solid at room temperature that has a significant drop in viscosity as the temperature gets above 90°C to enable processing while also possessing high dielectric strength.
